The plant

Herbaceous plant hot and humid climate, from India, marijuana (Cannabis sativa) belongs to the family Moraceae and can reach 5 feet tall. It has pages typed and small flowers, yellow and unscented. Dioica is a plant that has stems with female flowers and stems with male flowers. The fact that the plant has flower stalks with different influences in harvest, because the male flowers harden faster, dying after flowering, while the female flowers remain with a dark green to a month after flowering, when the seeds ripen . When there is no fertilization of the female flowers, they excrete large amounts of sticky resin composed of dozens of different substances. The fruit is marijuana yellow-green, small, oval and contains an acid that serves as food for some bird species.
The first reports of this herb in Brazil date from the eighteenth century when it was used for the production of fiber called hemp. These fibers were obtained by several processes, including defoliation, drying, crushing and stirring separating the wood fibers. These strong and durable fibers were used as sails for ships for centuries and even today are used in ropes, cables, sponges, fabric and yarn. Seeds with many proteins and carbohydrates are fed to domestic birds, and cereals and granolas. Oil extracted from seeds to make paints, varnishes, soap and edible oil.

Substances in marijuana.

The marijuana plant contains more than 400 chemicals, of which 60 are classified in the category of cannabinoids, according to the National Institutes of Health hidrocarbinol The tetra-(THC) is one of cannabinoids and is the substance most often associated with effects that marijuana has on the brain. The concentration of THC in the plant depends on several factors such as soil, climate, season, harvest time, elapsed time between harvest and use, growing conditions, plant genetics, post-harvest processing, etc.., So the effects can vary greatly from one plant to another.

Marijuana, hashish, charas, ghanja, bhang, kef, and dagga edge are some ways that cannabis can be consumed, but the most common way is through the smoke.
While inhaling marijuana smoke, the THC goes directly to the lungs are lined by alveoli, responsible for gas exchange. By having a large surface, easily absorb the alveoli THC and other substances. Minutes after being inhaled, THC falls into the bloodstream, reaching the brain.
In our brains there are some that cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in different places, such as the hippocampus, cerebellum and basal ganglia. These receptors have effects on some physical and mental activities and short-term memory, coordination, learning and problem solving.
The cannabinoid receptors are activated by anandamide, endogenous neurotransmitter that is compared to THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. THC, also belonging to the group of cannabinoids, anandamide mimics the actions of cannabinoid receptors by binding to and activating the neurons, adversely affecting the brain. The interaction of THC with the brain can cause feelings relaxants, such as feeling of lightness, and other senses may be changing.
Effects of short and long term
After consuming cannabis, the person may have some physical effects such as impaired memory, confusion between past, present and future, heightened senses, but with poor balance and muscle strength, loss of coordination, increased heart rate, distorted perception, anxiety , eyes red because of blood vessel dilation eye, dry mouth and difficulty with thinking and problem solving.
People who smoke marijuana are also susceptible to the same problems of people who smoke tobacco, such as asthma, emphysema, bronchitis and cancer.

Dependence

After all, marijuana causes addiction or not?

Many studies are being done on this subject, but still not sure whether or not marijuana causes addiction. Because of the difficulty in quantifying the pot that reaches the bloodstream, there are no formal THC doses that cause dependence. It is believed that the dependence increases as the period of use.
Studies show that some users who use marijuana daily did not develop the habit, while others may develop a syndrome similar to compulsive dependence on other drugs.
It is also possible to determine the nature of the withdrawal symptoms of marijuana.
According to The Agency American Drug Enforcement Administration, the prolonged consumption of cannabis can damage the lungs and the reproductive system.

Medicinal Uses

In centuries past, marijuana was used, naChina as anesthetic, analgesic, antidepressant, antibiotic and sedative. The herb was first mentioned in the pharmacopoeia (book bringing together formulas and recipes for medicines) known in the world, about 2000 years ago, recommending its use for constipation, malaria, rheumatism and menstrual pain. In the nineteenth century, some people began to use it in the treatment of gonorrhea and angina.
Currently, many believe that the negative effects of marijuana outweigh the positive effects, but many harmful effects of marijuana remain inconclusive. For this reason, some people ask for it to be legalized in order to be used as medicine in treating some diseases such as cancer and AIDS (combat nausea and stimulate appetite), glaucoma (increased eye pressure relief), epilepsy (avoid seizures) and multiple sclerosis (reduces muscle spasms).
